The Magic Flute

How disappointing.  I was really looking forward to a few hours lost in music and swept away to a place far from the normal day-to-day of always on, never far from a screen. And it's Mozart,  for goodness sake, how could it fail to be good.
Turns out they've put all of the staging into a special effects type of film, which the performers get to simply stand or sit in front of to sing. Absolutely no energy on stage, I'm mostly kind of bored and not at all able to relax because there is constant movement on the screen.  If I'd wanted to watch a screen all afternoon  I could have stayed at home and watched a DVD. Really not looking forward to the second half now. Soooo disappointed!
